Week of May 14: Call a Colleague
The RISE Network was designed to make calling point-to-point easy. This Coffee Break will show you how you can call another videoconference site (even if they’re not a RISE location) when you need to, without any lead time or without having to contact your RISE Consultant. This session will also review some of the features found on the TANDBERG remote control. The PowerPoint Presentation is available here.
Week of May 21: Troubleshooting
Want to solve common problems like not being able to see yourself or be heard by others? This session will provide suggestions on how to fix common problems and what information to report to HQ helpdesk staff if the problem needs to be escalated. This intermediate level session is intended for staff who are already familiar with the videoconference equipment.
Week of May 28: VC 102
How a room is setup for a videoconference can affect the experience of participants. This Coffee Break will help you understand how to arrange your library space (in terms of seating, lighting and sound) to provide the best videoconference experience possible for your participants. This session will also review how to adjust the videoconference camera and use pre-set camera positions.
Week of June 4: Finding VC Content
Videoconferencing can be made easy through the use of third-party videoconference providers. Find out how to access existing programs delivered by museums, zoos, educational institutions and more!
Week of June 11: Q & A Session
Do you have specific questions about videoconferencing? Come prepared with your questions and ask away!
Week of June 18: Marketing
To create a successful videoconference service, you need to serve expressed community needs and get the right patrons into the library. How do you accomplish this? Promote the service! Learn how to market your videoconference service in your community.
Week of June 25: Videoconference Etiquette
Videoconferencing is just like a regular meeting, but there are a few points of etiquette that differ from being face to face. Find out what to do to avoid any faux pas!
Week of July 2: Presentation Function
Learn how to connect a computer to the library’s videoconference equipment to share presentations, websites, etc. across the RISE Network and beyond. Troubleshooting techniques when connecting a computer will also be discussed.
Week of July 9: Developing In-house Programming
Want to offer videoconference programs to other RISE libraries, as well as to your community? Learn how to develop programs and discover new ways to entice your community to come to your library through interesting programming, and then share your programs with other RISE libraries! This is also a great opportunity to share your successful programs with other library managers and staff!
Week of July 16: Building Community Partnerships
Discover ways to build partnerships to deliver relevant programming, training sessions, and connect with your community and beyond. This session will include ideas on how to connect with and identify local experts and businesses that would benefit from videoconferencing. Get excited about promoting and marketing the various uses of videoconferencing to patrons, community members and organizations!
