Having recently returned from a three-week outreach mission to Malawi, Africa, Black Diamond residents David Campbell and Irene Velkova recount their experiences  dispensing self-adjustable eyeglasses to some of the most impoverished people in the developing world.  A recent invention of British physicist Joshua Silver, Adspecs, which are self-adjusting and cost just $19 a pair, have been lauded as one of the most important inventions in aid of humanitarian causes in the last fifty years.  David and Irene, who will demonstrate these remarkable glasses, also speak about their efforts to launch Global Vision 2020 Canada, a nonprofit aimed at soliciting funding to purchase Adspecs and train personnel to dispense them to an estimated 1.3 billion vision impaired people around the world.  For further information visit: www.gv2020.org  Host : Sheep River Library
