Connecting Libraries, Connecting People

The RISE Network works with public libraries to provide Albertans with opportunities to communicate with health care professionals, participate in distance education, attend meetings, learn new skills and more – all by videoconference from their local library.

RISE Is a great example of community development and efforts to build a resilient, trusted and accessible network of learning opportunity for rural Alberta. Bow Valley College would be pleased to continue utilizing the RISE Network to support and align with needs of rural learners, increase access to post-secondary opportunities and strengthen cross-generational learning through technology

Free Range Poetry: On the Trail with Canadian Western Poet Doris Daley

Wednesday, April 20, 2016 - 7:00pm - 8:00pm

Alberta born, award-winning western/cowboy poet Doris Daley started her "professional" poetry career 20 years ago with one poem and a complimentary ticket to  a barbeque.  Now she is at home on stages throughout Canada and the U.S., at campfires large and small, at private parties, corporate events and North America's most iconic cowboy poetry gatherings. Enjoy a visit with this amicable western ambassador, of whom Nevada poet Waddie Mitchell says, "If cowboy poetry was milk, and the cream that rises to the top was the very best of the best, then Doris Daley would be very rich and very fattening."
