RISE Is a great example of community development and efforts to build a resilient, trusted and accessible network of learning opportunity for rural Alberta. Bow Valley College would be pleased to continue utilizing the RISE Network to support and align with needs of rural learners, increase access to post-secondary opportunities and strengthen cross-generational learning through technology

Author Talk: Karon Argue

Tuesday, May 3, 2016 - 4:30pm - 5:30pm
Karon Argue, author and illustrator of the children's book The Smooch, will share her story of resilience and perseverance through several health complications. Karon lives in High River and her inspiration as an artist incorporates her visual arts background with her own physical challenges.

When acclaimed children's author Robert Munsch told Karon, "You're good, get going" (Routes magazine, 2013), she took it to heart - in spite of Type 1 Diabetes, blindness, and a kidney transplant in 2015.

This program will include an author reading and a discussion of how Karon accomplishes her art with the help of visual aids. She will demonstrate the CNIB equipment she used to illustrate and hand colour her book.

Hosted by the High River Library, this event will have a children's focus, but is open to patrons of all ages.
