Active Brain Boosters for Seniors

Join the McMillen Center for Health Education to learn how to keep your brain active. During the program, seniors (or adult learners!) will explore various behaviours that can boost brain performance by participating "in their seat" activities. Participants will learn the importance of staying mentally and physically fit with regular exercise and nutrition.

This presentation is interactive and requires some props, which can be printed out at your library. Files and instructions will be posted soon.

The Adventures of Captain Healthy & Safety Dog: A Live Interactive Puppet Show!

Learn basic health and safety tips from two intergalactic characters from the planet Relatively Fit — Captain Healthy & Safety Dog! Through this live, interactive performance students will engage with puppeteers as they learn about hygiene, sun protection, nutrition and healthy eating habits (MyFoodPlate), active play & safety outdoors, and general household safety tips! Sound effects and original music get students up on their feet and moving during the program.

Having irregular sleep or sleep disturbance can affect all aspects in our lives. Handling these disturbances with poor coping techniques can magnify the cause of a bad sleep. Through this workshop you will learn healthy and effective techniques to try and get your sleep back in order. You will learn about sleep hygiene, sleep debt and causes of sleep loss.
